Resume

03/2001-Pres. Cleveland Motion Controls, Burny Devision.

Software Engineer

Lovely mid-sized company. I work with a great bunch of Software and Electrical Engineers and in addition to that we do some meaningfull projects. How cool is that...
Software development for Burny 10 controll. Developed features like:
  • Teach-trace involving relatively complex math algorithm to optimize collected data. Also required heavy multithreaded buffering to read data onto the harddrive from a real-time process.
  • INI file driven back up utility that stores all the necessary config files in any necessary location. The treak was to run it as a separate thread, so that other vital system functions would not get suspended.
  • Developed multitude of owner-draw controls under MFC.
  • Did software ports between MS OSes and Dev Studios. It is not as easy as you might think.
03/2000-03/2001 Mcleod and Asoc., Inc.

Software Engineer

Unix (DYNIX,SCO,Solaris) and Oracle were the bread and butter of this company. Here are some words very aplicable to this company:"When You Earnestly Believe You Can Compensate For A Lack Of Skill By Doubling Your Efforts, There's No End To What You Can't Do." ( taken off thinkgeek.com website.)
  • Wrote highly configurable adapter in C++ that parced masses of terribly formated data and loaded it into Oracle database. I had to build relational tables inside of this puppy and had to request info from Database and decide whether I needed to update or insert data into the database. It was avery panefull process.
09/1999-03/2000 Enterprize Foundation ( externship in Cleveland Housing Network).

Linux Admin,Network Analyst/Consultant.

Both are very nice non-profit organizations with a lot of good causes and happenings. Enterprize Foundation is a nation wide charitable organization with great influence over inner-city restoration projects. Cleveland Housing network is a similar organization connected to Enterprize Foundation, but it is local to Cleveland.
  • Led a succesful effort to bring all Comunity Development Corporations in the Cleveland Area to a certain IT standard that would enable them to use software search tools developed by CHN.
  • Lead the effort to bring Linux into their environment. The server was installed and succesfully configured, but the manager that was interested in the effort had left the company, so it became my own pet project. I ran RH6.2 with Apache/MySQL/ZOPE concuction which was fully functional and eventually was not used for enything and taken off line.
06/1999-09/1999 Pile Dynamics, Inc.

Web Master,DBA

Short somer project in this small Civil Engineering company, which showed me that Web Development is not something I want to be the bread and butter in my life. It was however my first step in software development direction.
  • Molding of prehistoric Paradox database into usable MSAccess database.
  • Development of the corparate Web Site.
09/1997-06/1999 Alen Bradley, Rockwell Automation.

Network Administrator (Internship)

Have spent there 1.5 wonderful years, working with well trained professionals from different walks of life. We succesfully suported 250+ people between four of us. I could have stayed thare and become one of IT people, but I moved on to become a programmer... Choice I am very happy about.
  • Windows NT/Unix/Novell corparate network support.
  • Help with Integration of different engineering projects into LAN.
  • Was trusted with support of any complexity including fixing computers of VPs and their "Administrative Asistants"

Additional Relevant Activities.

Was the president and the only active member of Cleveland State Chapter of Association for Computing Machinery. We had other members but the have done nothing, main problem was that I wanted to do computer related stuff and not regular pizza parties and faculty softball games, which made the club rather popular as far as joining it was concerned and unpopular as far as participation.
